Peter Tichansky
PresidentBusiness Council for International Understanding (BCIU)
Peter Tichansky has served as President of the New York non-profit Business Council for International Understanding since 1996. He is Chairman of BCIU (Europe) Limited, the London-based European subsidiary of BCIU and established BCIU’s Washington office in 1998. BCIU’s objective is to facilitate dialogue and action between business and government to promote international understanding, while advocating for the full protection of intellectual property, contract sanctity, and donor intent. BCIU serves an influential corporate and individual membership base of leading companies and entrepreneurs in a many industries and countries.
Mr. Tichansky advises business leaders, entrepreneurs, and forward-looking political leaders and, time permitting, joins diverse, ad hoc teams to solve problems. Recent examples include advising the Louisiana Lt. Governor on his annual New Orleans “World Cultural Economic Forum,” establishing the list of the “Africa Fast Growth 500” companies, working to build a permanent UN memorial to the trans-atlantic slave tragedy, and promoting the Olympic ideals through the U.S. Truce Foundation. He is a member of the board of visitors of the U.S. Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama, and the Washington-based International Child Art Foundation, an organization which highlights the innate creativity and intrinsic empathy in children. He helps select the annual BCIU Eisenhower Global Leadership Award recipients.
Mr. Tichansky studied political science and religion at Middlebury College, was awarded a Rotary International scholarship upon graduation in 1984.
